From the #1 New York Times bestselling author of Alex and Eliza and The Witches of East End comes a reimagining of Gotham for a new generation of readers. Before they became Batman, Catwoman, and The Joker, Bruce, Selina, and Jack were high schoolers who would do whatever it took–even destroy the ones they love–to satisfy their own motives.
After being kicked out of his boarding school, 16-year-old Bruce Wayne returns to Gotham City to find that nothing is as he left it. What once was his family home is now an empty husk, lonely but haunted by the memory of his parents’ murder. Selina Kyle, once the innocent girl next door, now rules over Gotham High School with a dangerous flair, aided by the class clown, Jack Napier.
When a kidnapping rattles the school, Bruce seeks answers as the dark and troubled knight–but is he actually the pawn? Nothing is ever as it seems, especially at Gotham High, where the parties and romances are of the highest stakes … and where everyone is a suspect.
With enchanting art by Thomas Pitilli, this new graphic novel is just as intoxicating as it is chilling, in which dearest friends turn into greatest enemies–all within the hallways of Gotham High!
Hello bibliophiles! Before anything else, I just want to say a huge thank you to The Fantastic Flying Book Club for choosing me as one of the participants for this blog tour! When I found the email containing the sign ups for this tour, I didn’t hesitate. I’m a fan of DC Comics, not like most who has read all the comics. But I love it that the first superhero I loved is Superman. But that stopped for a while, until I found out that there is going to be a flash TV show! I got excited and that really sparked my love for DC. I adore it so much that this book really got me excited. Plus the author is a well-loved author of mine, especially her Descendants books 💕
Enough with that and time to share my honest thoughts for this graphic novel. First things first, let’s talk about the obvious part, the cover. I adore the cover so much. The color, the art, especially the art. Just seeing those three main characters on the covers made me excited to see the entire graphics! And Oh My Gosh! I adore the graphics. It’s so pleasing to the eye. It has this unfinished look that made it so great to look at and sets the mood of the entire book. We all know how crime driven Gotham City is, so with the unfinished look, sketchy, for the art, made it so fitting.
So the plot of this book is point on. I love how the plot is right there but not at all. I thought it was just going to be about Jack, Bruce and Selina’s high school life and their differences. But it’s a whole new thing. To think this book doesn’t really focus on the superhero thing, like how Bruce Wayne is Batman and Jack as Joker. So having that kind of plot, made me just want to read it and enjoy the gorgeous art.
I also adore how easy it was to read the book, I know that graphic novels are very easy to read but this graphic novel was amazing. I like that I understand the entire concept and the plot of the book. Some graphic novels, I have difficulty to really understand and comprehend the the plot.
So I like the characters even Jack aka Joker. He is a typical mean person but really adore him. And oh, Bruce Wayne is Asian! I love that Asian rep in this DC comics novel! I adore how he is very reserve as he is but I love how persistent he is to get into the bottom of the problem in their school. I thought he didn’t know who the true villain and was just looking at blind. I adore Selina! I like that she is very persistent too and how she would do everything to give her father all that he needs, even if that would risk her own life.
I also love the girl supporting girls in this book with Ivy on the scene.
So that’s about it, don’t wanna spoil anyone! If you are a fan of the DC Comics, don’t hesitate to pick this up!

“If you can’t beam them, join them.”
